I was the guest speaker on the “Digital Artist” podcast on Wednesday July 20th 2022. I was joined by Andrew Kavanagh, the founder of Digital Artist and host for the talk, and Jack Savage of the Influx Gallery. My work features on the Influx Gallery website.
It was great to have an informal chat about my work and career although I do seem to ramble on for some time in the end! Jack and Andrew were awesome. The footage of the podcast is now available on YouTube –

Students have had a tough time lately with Covid related disruptions. I was assigned by Microsoft to photograph “Eedi”, their AI online math tutoring service.
I spent the morning with Eithne and her family in Chorley, photographing Eithne using the math tutoring service both in the house and on the move in the car.
Newly enrolled students on Eedi are asked to take a dynamic quiz of 10 multiple choice diagnostic questions that the service uses to learn where students struggle most in math. This information allows the service to place students on a learning pathway to overcome those specific obstacles, or misconceptions.
The dynamic quiz is powered by AI developed by researchers at the Microsoft Research Lab in Cambridge, United Kingdom, who specialize in machine learning algorithms that help people make decisions.
The AI uses each answer to predict the probability the student will correctly answer each of thousands of other possible next questions and then weighs those probabilities to decide what question to ask next to pinpoint knowledge gaps.

JLL’s new 38,000 sq ft offices at 20 Water Street is featured in the current issue of Mix Interiors Magazine and on a number of websites including Office Snapshots and Costar. I was commissioned to photograph the space for the design and build team, Tetris.
The Canary Wharf workplace is JLL’s first office specifically designed to embrace a new way of hybrid working. JLL wanted a collaborative, sustainable, inclusive, health-led, tech-smart, energy-efficient and flexible workplace (targeting WELL Platinum, SKA Gold, BREEAM Excellent). The user experience is at the centre of the design, promoting wellness through biophilia incorporated in spaces both inside and outside of the offices. The project had to be an exemplar for both JLL's people and clients, while meeting JLL's targets for their Net Zero Carbon 2025 milestone.
The workplace benefits from AI powered sensors to monitor occupancy and air quality, as well as smart lockers and ultra-high-speed Wi-Fi complementing JLL’s own intelligent workplace app.
Sustainable elements include worktops made from recycled post-industrial plastic and tabletops within the demise made from recycled suit textiles.
The office features a variety of meeting and hybrid rooms, breakout areas, cafe and kitchens, huddle spaces, demo and innovation zones, standing rooms, study libraries, acoustic meeting pods, plus garden lounges and balconies.
JLL has employed a forward-thinking and holistic approach to the design of their new offices, with innovation and employee wellbeing at its heart.
Mix Interiors is aimed at the UK architectural and design community. Each issue features the latest industry news, case studies of leading projects across workplace, hospitality and residential, interviews with key influencers from the world of A&D and property; reviews of the industry’s major events and exhibitions, and insightful articles written by expert contributors.
