The Tree of Trees sculpture was designed by Heatherwick Studios as part of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations. Situated outside of Buckingham Palace, London, the sculpture was part of a national community campaign to plant more trees.
Originally built in 1992 to designs by GMW Partnership, The Minster Building has recently been redeveloped by the architects, BuckleyGrayYeoman. A new entrance on the corner of Mincing Lane and Great Tower Street leads to the reception with an eight-storey central atrium. This sets the tone and material palette for the rest of the development, with curved glazing, textured jesmonite panels, marble and bronze combining to create an opulent, airy and uplifting ambiance.
The ICON Outlet at the O2 Arena is CallisonRTKL’s masterplan for a leisure and entertainment district in London. The ceiling treatment within the space is a unique feature to the site, designed to create a sense of light, space and tranquillity. Clever use of LED lighting enables the tone and look and feel of the development to shift depending on the time of day.
The First Light Pavilion at Jodrell Bank in the UK is based on a modern re-working of the Meridian Line. Hassell Architects designed the pavilion as a grassy mound with a dramatically curved concrete entrance with its axis due south to reflect the arc of the sun. Two separate screen walls guide visitors to the entryway, evoking a sense of exploration and discovery.

The Outlet Village in Dubai is an indoor retail destination developed by Meraas that offers a value shopping experience in a distinctive and stunning environment. Located adjacent to Dubai Parks and Resorts and within easy reach of Abu Dhabi the outlet village has become a destination for visitors. The architects CallisonRTKL designed the Outlet Village with an innovative approach to construction housing over 125 luxury retail brands, three department stores, and a range of international dining.
The Mall of Egypt has been designed by CallisonRTKL as a consumer engagement space with a sense of community created out of the entertainment, experiences, and services which are offered. It is no longer a place for retailers to push out product offerings into a mass market but somewhere which has a pull-marketing approach orchestrated around the needs and interests of an increasingly diverse consumer market, segmented by age, ethnicity, and locality.
Located in Cairo’s modern 6th of October district, the Mall of Egypt has been designed by the architects CallisonRTKL as a destination to LEED Silver standards and is intended to foster a family-centred sense of community. The two-level centre includes a hypermarket, global flagship retail, a range of dining options, and exceptional entertainment venues including a cinema complex, the first indoor snow park in Africa and Magic Planet entertainment.
The Argo complex is a 2km long aerial tramway linking the heart of Batumi’s waterfront which is situated on Georgia’s Black Sea coast, to the Argo entertainment centre developed on Anuria Mountain. At 250 m (820 ft) above sea level, this sightseeing centre provides visitors with some unmatched views of the city, the Black Sea and the surrounding mountains. The architects Callison RTKL designed the entertainment centre to give the viewer the impression of being on a ship using symbols from the boat by which mythical Jason and Argonauts sailed to Kolchida. The Vela Tower is clad in aluminium panels with rich golden glass windows.
The Argo complex is a 2km long aerial tramway linking the heart of Batumi’s waterfront which is situated on Georgia’s Black Sea coast, to the Argo entertainment centre developed on Anuria Mountain. CallisonRTKL designed the lower Station on Gogebashvili Street on the waterfront, as an impressive angular glass building.
The Batumi Hilton Hotel and residences is a mixed-use development comprising of two towers: a 21-storey hotel tower for Hilton International and a 19-storey residential tower. CallisonRTKL architects designed the development as a feature for the city, that respects the environment and embraces the rich culture and heritage of the area.
The Thames Quarter Building has 315 apartments spread across the building’s 12-storey and 23-storey sections, which provide a variety of amenity spaces. The residents have access to a gym / wellness studio, an in-house cinema, communal lounge areas, dining rooms, landscape upper-level terraces and a tech hub workspace area. CRTKL delivered the concept design and planning submission for a build-to-rent development in close proximity to Reading railway station.
The Architects Child Graddon Lewis’s award-winning Leeds Dock design for Allied London is the public realm masterplan and redevelopment of a prime dockside site in the West Yorkshire city, creating a new retail, work and leisure destination. The project has transformed a formerly failing site into a vibrant city centre village and features over a dozen low-cost initiatives, including new retail areas, contemporary workspaces, a street food hub, external seating areas and a range of bold public realm interventions.
8 Canada Square (or the HSBC Tower) is the global headquarters of the HSBC Group. Foster + Partners were originally appointed as the architects as they had designed their previous head office in Hong Kong. The interior has since been updated by the architects tp bennet to take advantage of it’s increasingly spectacular views as you climb the levels.
3 Moorgate Place has a rich history and was once the HQ of Ocean Accident & Guarantee Corp. It has recently undergone a substantial refurbishment designed by tp bennett architects.

The Liberia National Peace & Cultural Festival was part of International Alert’s Media Project to bring people from different cultural, linguistic & ethnic groups together. Nearly four hundred artists and performers from all 15 counties of Liberia, and over 100 artists from Sierra Leone, Ivory Coast and Guinea performed on one stage in a celebration of their cultural diversity, Monrovia.
International Alert started working in Liberia in 1993 and stayed throughout the years of civil war. Alert has focused on work in the field of communications. They have helped journalists and traditional communicators become more effective, enhancing the media’s role as a vehicle for transparency, democracy and non-violent change. Since 2004, as part of its Liberia Media Project, Alert established eight community radio stations across the country, and set up the Liberia National Peace & Cultural Festival.
“Portraits of Resilience” is a conceptual art campaign for TASSC International: Desiré Lemoupa, Cameroon, “I was tortured because of my political affiliation and my sexual orientation. The projected image shows how the police and military degrade people by forcing them to crawl through dirt.” Survivors are the strongest and most effective voice in the campaign to abolish torture.

Oromos have been threatened, murdered, and imprisoned for sympathising with the Oromo national movement … my political activism led to me being denied government jobs, arrested, and severely tortured a number of times. I chose a photo of the Odaa Tree to be projected onto me. This big shady tree is a representation of a community gathering place in times when there were no modern meeting halls.” Survivors are the strongest and most effective voice in the campaign to abolish torture.

I advocated for the preservation of the environment, and for gender and minority rights. I was persecuted for denouncing corruption. Traditional livelihoods of felling trees to sell as timber and charcoal has reduced the forest at a rate of 300,000 hectares each year. Distribution days are usually from a village hall and will cover a large region where people may have to walk for the best part of a day to be there. Families have to carry the filters and stoves home to their houses, where community health workers will visit them.

Before Farm Africa’s involvement in sesame seed farming, a large percentage of the crop would be lost after harvesting, because the farmers had nowhere to store or process it. Sesame seeds are easily damaged and are prone to rotting and pests. They need to be sieved and stored in a dry environment. Farm Africa has built two modern warehouses with enough room for farmers to process and store their crops. A kilo of the higher-quality sesame sells for almost 45% more than the local variety did, helping provide more for their families. Farm Africa also encourages farmers to form co-operatives so they can sell their produce collectively, and the co-operative warehouse allows the farmers to store sesame until it is at its most valuable. Farm Africa is working with African smallholder farmers in sub-Sahara Africa. They recognise that they must invest in the local communities with basic infra structure necessities, such as running water and electricity, and support the local people with doctors and schools.
African smallholder farmers are some of the most impoverished people in the world (43% are women) and they account for 80% of food production in sub-Sahara Africa. Farm Africa are representing the farmers and working with the supermarkets to supply their customers with good quality products, at fair prices throughout the year, which will ultimately safeguard the future of these farms.

A hallmark of the conflict in Liberia was the use of cultural differences that exist between different communities as a means of dividing them. The Peace and Cultural festival was organised by a group or organisations, including the United Nations and International Alert, being aimed to enable Liberians to celebrate their cultural diversity as the unifying strength that it can and should be.
I was assigned to capture the aftermath of 9/11 at Ground Zero, the remains of the World Trade Centre, New York and to cover the work being done by the Red Cross and other NGOs.

Four thousand Red Cross volunteers were invited to a Royal Garden Party to celebrate the Centenary of The British Red Cross’ Royal Charter – sponsored by Land Rover.
The British Red Cross paid tribute to actor, writer and presenter Stephen Fry at a special gala dinner at the City of London ‘s Guildhall. Prior to the event, Stephen Fry received the Freedom of the City of London, which is the highest honour the city can bestow.
The Compass Collective “Next Steps” is an arts-based development programme culminating in a performance written and performed by the participants. The final show was attended by Toby Jones and Bruce Goodison at the Samsung Building Coal Shed Yard. Compass Collective assists unaccompanied minor refugees and young people seeking asylum to build resilience and integrate into the UK through theatre, music and film projects and arts-led professional development programmes.
The Estonian Embassy in London hosted a fundraising ‘Rave for Ukraine’ at the legendary Fabric Nightclub. There was an all-star lineup of DJ’s including Felix Buxton of Basement Jaxx, Pavel Plastikk, Chris Liebing, Ida Engberg, Nick AC, Jimmy Plates, Rhythm Doctor, DJ Food and Estonia’s minister of culture, Heidy Purga. It was an evening of losing yourself to the music, where all the proceeds went towards raising money to help children who have been exposed to the horrors of the war and overcome psychological trauma.

The Queen’s Green Canopy was a unique nationwide tree planting initiative created to mark Her late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022. Across the United Kingdom, people from all walks of life were invited to “Plant a tree for the Jubilee” to create a legacy in honour of Her late Majesty’s leadership of the nation, to benefit future generations.
