It always feels good to be involved in award winning projects. I photographed the BBC Broadcasting House for Overbury and HOK. I remember walking around the space on my first visit in awe of the scale and technical requirements. From the incredible news floor to the numerous studios, and from the largest comms room I have ever seen to the inspiring office layouts, meeting rooms and infrastructure, everything is on epic proportions. It is no wonder that it recently received the British Council for Offices (BCO) Award for corporate workplace in the combined merits of its base build and fit out. According to the BCO, Portland Place was “a development of extraordinary complexity on numerous fronts that has been delivered with great skill, passion and style” .
This project was also nominated for the National Innovation award based on the development of completely new ways of working and broadcasting, in addition to numerous technical innovations in acoustics, vibration, visual aspects and space planning.
